The video on this page describes an overflow problem with the sorting machine. I may have found a fix:
Put a space between each of the sorting hoppers. You can upgrade your double chests so they face forward this way. You can also put a feedback loop along the top in case any of the hoppers overflow and start clogging up the system. I have only tried this in 1.5.2 --65.74.70.63 23:14, 22 May 2013 (UTC)Habib_Ackbar

"Item counter" solution doesn't work or I can't figure out how to implement it properly. Can anyone confirm please that it works? I'm using BedrockE. --87.69.177.22 08:45, 15 April 2018 (UTC)
How is this a sorter?
The single hopper is locked, will only unlock if more than 22 items are in the hopper. Lets assume the hopper is at 18-1-1-1-1 and waiting for a new item to arrive. How does the new item enter the hopper? It has to be manually placed by a player, or pushed in by another hopper above (which has no other output) or on the side (which breaks tileability and also can only be accessed by a hopper that is also locked by the torch). There does not seem to be a way to both: allow items to flow into this hopper and allow other items to flow past it except in one very specific circumstance: if the hopper constantly maintains MORE than 22 items it will stay unlocked and a stream above the hopper can flow over it while it sucks in only the sorted item. Once it is reduced to 22 items it will lockup and stop sorting. I would love to see an explanation for how this could be used in a sorting system. Puttanesca621 (talk) 14:20, 22 October 2020 (UTC)
In the text, there are seven examples of an abbreviation "BOM". But nowhere does it say what that means.
Does anybody know what "BOM" means? It seems to be a list of blocks needed to build the item. SirDaddicus (talk) 12:46, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
Is there a reason the item sorter isn't attributed? The community routinely identifies it as an ImpulseSV sorter and there seems to be no earlier example of it.
