External links use single square brackets with a space separating the URL from a label. For example, [http://example.com link title]. Full documentation is at mediawikiwiki:Help:Links. I have no idea why they decided to make it so different from internal links, which use double square brackets and a pipe separator. -- Orthotope^talk 20:04, 6 January 2015 (UTC)
