Hmmh... I have been using https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/User:Dand0/How_to_make_a_block_render's model. It was the first results that I saw when searching for how to render. I think that they look decent, also it could be your monitor's contrast/brightness that is making my renders look dark. But I can try using the model that is in the Minecraft Wiki:Standardized views.
