101 THINGS in 1001 DAYS
101 Things in 1001 Days is the brainchild of Michael Green, a blogger and developer from NZ. He created a list of tasks to achieve within a defined period, and the idea quickly spread around the web as a tool for helping people accomplish their goals. This community was created for those beginning their challenge in the year 2011. It exists so that we can share our goals, motivate and congratulate each other as we make our way through our lists.
WHY 1001 DAYS?
Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple goals such as New Year's resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organizing and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.
INTRODUCE YOURSELF!
We're spending the next 2.75 years together, so tell us a little about who you are! Say as much or as little as you like, but let us know something about the person behind the list.
POST YOUR 101 LIST, BUT...
... please put it behind an lj-cut. If you're not sure how to do that, you'll find instructions here.
KEEP US UPDATED ON YOUR PROGRESS
If your goal is to brush your teeth every day for a year, you really don't need to check in with us every time you do it! However, it would be great if you shared your accomplishments with us here, to inspire everybody else into action.
TAGGING
As a result of Livejournal's tag limit (and to keep things organized), we have a tagging system in place. Only moderators can create a new tag, but you can submit suggestions! See the full list of community tags here.
When tagging your posts, choose from the list of category tags. You can tag with your username too - just search for it in the list. If none of the existing categories apply to your post, tag with the '! suggest a category' tag, and include your suggestion within the body of your post. This tag is maintained regularly so that new categories can be added as they are needed.
When requesting a username tag, you must tag your post with '! suggest a tag' (without the '') and in the body of your post write that you want a username tag.Sound complicated? Don't worry about it. Tagging is optional, but doing so helps us to group together common topics.
PICTURES ARE WELCOME!
Pictures of your accomplishments are terrific, and will help us to truly appreciate the effort you went to. As with most other communities, it's important that posts don't become too lengthy, so please lj-cut after the first picture. One picture is allowed outside the cut, all other pictures must be under an lj-cut. A picture that is larger than 600px on its widest side should also go behind a cut.
PROMOTING OTHER SITES AND COMMUNITIES
Please share with us any other sites that have helped you to attain your goals, or are likely to be of great benefit to the rest of us. You are also welcome to link to your own LJ or non-LJ website if it relates to your 101 list in some ways. Please do not promote unrelated communities, websites or projects in this community. If you're uncertain whether you should post about it, talk it over with one of the moderators first.
