These two series feature quite a lot of violence and bloodshed. That is quite obvious from the first few episodes of each. However, the main similarity has to do with character.
The main female character in both series has two sides. The first being easygoing/happy/cute, and the other being a murderer/assailant highly skilled in combat. There are more differences between the two character "sides" in Elfen Lied, as they are more extreme. However, both are highly similar.
The tone in both series can be connected as well, although Blood C isn't immediately similar to Elfen Lied. The two contain militaristic themes, and the overarching plot delves into
the main characters' pasts.
Of course, Blood C is building on a franchise, while Elfen Lied has a manga. Therefore, Blood C is a little lighter and more accessible in comparison.

Both have interesting plot, likeable characters and impeccable drama.
Ok, I lied but they both have blood, gracious amounts of fan service and dense lead characters. The best thing about both series is the opening song and I guess Blood-C is a pretty looking show.
sick humor, crazy tastes unpredictible plot.
In my opinion these two animes have a lot of similarities in the MC as well as in the story. A MC who goes between being a ditsy, child-like, innocent girl to a killing machine due to whatever circumstances & when that side of her is shown expect plenty of blood spill & limbs to be severed. Both plots involve the MCs past, betrayal, & "monsters". In both I would wait an entire episode just for the action to come & when it did it was totally worth it. So, to sum it all up,
-MC with two personalities (Killer/innocent girl)
-Every fight ends in a bloodbath
-Plot
involving the past, betrayal, & monsters
-Only a bit of action per episode but entirely worth it
Id say if you liked one you should give the other a chance. Both have some stuff youd have to put up with before getting to the good parts (Pointless ecchiness in Elfen Lied & the whole boring school theme of Blood-C) but id say its worth it.

The things interesting in both series are the fights and gore.
Both plots could have been so much better, but in some way, they're enjoyable.
I recommend both only if you like bloody scenes.
Hah, this is massacre. Many innocent lives has been put into waste
If you like the gore and the horror from Elfen Lied, Blood-C is the perfect choice ;) The movie is also good!
These series share same main heroine, whose destiny has played horrible joke with.
-Both have short action scenes but end in a gruesome display
-Good horror and unpredictable
-A double-sided female MC who is ditsy and loveable on one side but a badass on the other
-Both main girls have tragic pasts
These are both 12 episode long anime that are full of blood, gore, and secrets. While these two anime are not the same, they have a similar type of story. The main character of Blood-C, Saya, is also similar to Lucy in Elfen Lied. Neither of these anime are for people with a weak stomach (They are among the goriest anime I've seen), but they are both good anime for horror fans.
