So if your in Perth and you want to share your journal with the community, then this is the place to make a comment or a post letting us know a little bit about you.  I have a tumblr site which is basically just photo blogging some of the stuff I make.  I don't do it on my actual journal, because I use it for a different purpose, but if you want to check it out then go to http://www.vefoodz.tumblr.com I have just recently made flax bread with sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and homegrown tomato!  Have a look if you like!

Check out the awesome Animal Rights Advocates website!  They're a locally based group of animal rights activists who as far as I know are vegan, since the site has a go vegan button.  They are probably more active in the fight for animal rights and protection than some of the other groups who may have other prerogatives.  So check it out!

I started this community to help people find their vegan supplies here in Perth, the things that they might need whether traveling here from abroad or whether they are recently making the switch to vegan, or vegetarian and want to be able to find the things that they need in terms of activities (animal rights), food, clothing etc, or just to meet like minded people and exchange contact details.  The vegan scene in Perth is healthy, especially now that there is a new Cruelty Free store in Fremantle, making cruelty free shopping accessible in the north, the city centre and now south in Fremantle.

Hopefully about 2 and half years later, I might be able to maintain this community a little bit better, providing information on the activities of the ARA (Animal rights Advocates) and other active groups in Perth PAWS so that there will be at least SOME information about what is available here in our beautiful, and hmm dare I say vegan friendly?  Hopefully it is more vegan friendly than you first thought, now that you've visited the site.

Meat Free Mondays

Inspired by Paul MCartney in the UK, every Monday is supposed to be a meat free day to promote vegetarianism, veganism, animal rights, environmentalism and well common sense don't you think?  Well the People and Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) on beaufort St is heaving a very affordable vegan feast every Monday, until further notice, so for about $5 or less you'll get a wonderful meal and meet some of the local people involved with making sure there is a regular supply of vegan goods, food and community, and to some degree actions regarding the welfare of animals, but that seems to be taking the form of petitions and literature, they seem to be a more people oriented group these days.

Recently in 2009 The Cruelty Free Shop opened in Fremantle - I went there the other day, its great to have a store for vegans in our port city, it saves a lot of time and effort especially for those of us who live south of the river, for products which are too difficult to get at the supermarket, much less a trip into the city.

Some good vegan foods can be found at Fresh Provisions in Mount Lawley on Beaufort St, this is where I go for treats like vegan chocolates and biscuits.  Although recently I discovered a soy chocolate, 85g $2.50 from Coles, completely vegan, choc mint and choc raspberry (At Southlands shopping Centre).  If you have any shops, or things you'd like to add please post them here if you are based in Perth

Hello, my alias is 👁 Image
lilithbytesand I decided to create this page for the benefit of the local vegan community.  I have been a vegan for about 3 months, after being a vegetarian for about 9 months, and I living in Perth found that there was not alot of free information, or local community resources for those new to being V.  Only recently I discovered the organisation PAWS on Beaufort St, when I was in a search for an animal safe product.  Fortunately such soscieties exist, but the real 'vegan buzz' is harder to find.  Hopefully here you will find community, resources, like-minded people, social gatherings and recipes. I hope you find this useful... V is for...
