community, this community is for those who are Texans, are temporary Texans, considering being Texans or are interested in Texans.

The original focus of the Poor in Toronto community was: The Working Poor and The Hardly Working. This community is also designed to be a place where people living in Texas can share ideas, resources, and support. All those in Texas are welcome, both urban and rural. Houstonians (like the moderator), Austinites (UT students? Starving artists?), folks in San Antone or Dallas/Fort Worth...or those living on a ranch in the middle of West Texas. We have a lower cost of living than most of the rest of the country, but that doesn't mean we can't use help! Native Texans and transplants alike welcome.

The general idea is to offer a playground of information regarding (though not limited to): assistance in getting by, information about advancing one's career, improving one's quality of life... all with little to no money. Also, it's a great place to spread the word (or ask questions) about cheap/free happenings, places to eat, things to do, etc.

Social Workers, Activists, Recent Entrepreneurs, Small Business Owners, Discount Shoppers, Students, Penny Savers, and others are also more than welcome to join the group if they believe they can add to the community objectives. :-) We can use all the help we can get! Keep in mind though that the original focus is still on: The Working Poor and The Hardly Working, therefore some posts might not apply to all.

Please feel free to post advice and questions! If something doesn't work well within the community, myself or others will let you know.
