Rzhev is a town in Tver Oblast, Russia. It is 49 kilometres (30 miles) southwest of Staritsa and 126 kilometres (78 miles) from Tver. It is on the highway and railway connecting Moscow and Riga. It is the uppermost town on the Volga River.
