What Do You Think Of SAS' New Special Livery A330-300?

Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has unveiled one of the more eye-catching special liveries seen so far this year: an Airbus A330-300 painted in an all-blue 80th anniversary color scheme. The aircraft marks the start of SAS’ 80th year of operations and is designed to celebrate eight decades of linking Scandinavia with the wider world. The design uses SAS' trademark blue across the full fuselage for the first time, giving the aircraft a much bolder presence. It incorporates the flags of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden wrapped around the fuselage, underlining the three-nation foundation of the airline, with a nod to the airline’s classic 1980s styling. The design also incorporates an anniversary emblem on the tail, inspired by the aircraft’s engines and fuselage. The result is one of those rare special liveries that is instantly recognizable from a distance. As special liveries go, what do you think of this one? Is it a winner, or could it use improvement?

Should Palm Beach International Be Named After Trump?

Simple Flying reported earlier on the renaming of Palm Beach International (PBI). Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has signed a bill into law approving the renaming so that it can bear the name of the current US President, Donald Trump. The move comes after lawmakers in the Sunshine State voted in favor of the name change, and, with DeSantis having now signed it into law, the alteration is a step closer to becoming a reality. However, it will still require approval from the FAA. Do you agree with this — should PBI be named after Trump? And more broadly, what are your thoughts on naming airports after presidents?

Should JetBlue Merge, And Who Would Be The Right Partner?

New York-based JetBlue Airways has been working with advisers to explore the viability of being sold to rival airlines. As reported by Semafor, the airline has a scenario-based plan on how it could work with United Airlines, Alaska Airlines, or Southwest Airlines. This proposal would also look to understand how it would fare with support from Washington. JetBlue was blocked from acquiring Florida-based ultra-low-cost-carrier Spirit Airlines in 2024, and since then, the airline has seen its share price drop around 40%. Having not turned a profit since 2019, and with an ever-larger pile of debt, finding a merger partner might be JetBlue's cleanest option.  But what do you think? Should JetBlue merge, and who would be the right partner?

Should Other US Airlines Strip Members Of Congress Of Their VIP Perks?

Delta Air Lines has said that it is suspending its special services suite for members of Congress, citing a lack of resources amid the ongoing partial government shutdown. Lawmakers flying with Delta will no longer receive VIP perks, such as expedited screening, airport escorts and priority customer service, as the airline's resources are stretched to their limit. According to Delta, while this suspension is in place, members of Congress will be treated as regular customers according to their SkyMiles status. Of course, Delta is not the only airline used by lawmakers, and in fact, American Airlines is often cited as the favored airline for members of Congress, given that it operates a hub at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). So with that in mind, do you think this was the right move by Delta, and should the other large US airlines do the same and also strip members of Congress of VIP perks?

Which Airline Has (Or Had) The Best Safety Video?

I'm old enough to remember when there weren't any airline safety videos, because there weren't any seat-back screens. But as in-flight entertainment has proliferated, we’ve seen airlines put an increasing amount of effort into their safety videos. What started out as mundane clips that most people ignored have, in the case of some airlines, become expansive productions. I first started noticing this with Delta's safety video that features the famous "Deltalina" and her "no smoking" finger wag that quickly went viral. Katherine Lee-Hinton, the real flight attendant in the video, would return for an encore in Delta's ‘A Hundred Years of Safety’ video last year. One of my other favorites was British Airways, with a 6-minute spectacle featuring famous British actors in partnership with Comic Relief, and Air New Zealand can always be counted upon for something zany.   But what are your favorites? Which airline has (or had) the best safety video?

What Is The Best European Airport For Layovers?

Europe has many excellent airports for layovers, allowing you to comfortably pass the time until your next flight, whether it is in quality lounges, a wide variety of shops and restaurants, or easy access to hotels on-site. My personal favorite is that many European airports also have easy access to rail stations, so if you plan your layover to be long enough, you can easily visit the city and return in time for your next flight.  As a SkyTeam flyer, my most common layover airport in Europe has been Amsterdam Schiphol, where I've spent a lot of time over the decades. It has top-tier amenities, and it's "all-in-one" terminal design makes it easy to navigate and interesting to explore. However, this summer I'm going to be connecting through Copenhagen, which is a 15-minute metro trip from the airport to the city center, so I'm planning to maximize my layover time so I can explore Denmark's capital.  But what do you think — in your experience, what is the best European airport for layov

Could A Different Aircraft Have Been A Better Choice For Delta Than The 787-10?

I think the 787-10 is perfect for its transatlantic routes. And it was also smart to send a message to Airbus that despite Delta’s past disagreements with Boeing, it is still a genuine supplier at Delta. Keeps their pencils sharp when it’s time to order more A350s or A330s.

What Is Your Favourite Airport For Planespotting?

ATL is my “local”, and I’ll often take the kids and a picnic and we’ll go tailgate at the top of one of the parking decks, usually on the South Terminal side as there’s three runways to watch.

I also enjoy dual-purpose airports like PDX where there’s a chance that you’ll have some F-15s mixed in. VPS is probably the best of these as Eglin has both F-22s and F-35s.

Delta Air Lines Continues Los Angeles Lead, Schedules More Flights To Florida This Winter

You’re right, I was looking at the wrong schedule when I wrote that. AA actually has up to 8 daily LAX-MIA flights, depending on the day. Good catch - I’ve made the correction.

What's Your Favorite Airbus A220 Livery?

Breeze, and simply because it’s a great color and really stands out at the airport. At RDU the other day they had 2 at the gate and another taxiing a they suddenly looked like a much bigger airline than they are.

To be fair, it’s such an attractive aircraft it’s not difficult for any livery to look good on it.

Major Airline Looking To Reduce Flight Attendant Workforce By Offering Nearly $20,000 To Quit

They are reportedly looking to reduce by approximately 300, but it’s not precise as some might take reduced schedules or things like the “Study & Fly” program.
