The total consumer confidence indicator dropped by 2.7 percentage points in April compared with January, with decreased confidence both among people living in cities and those in rural areas.
The total assessment of the development of the economic situation in the country over the last 12 months has worsened, with this indicator dropping by 13.7 points.
People living in villages hold that this trend will continue over the next 12 months, while those living in cities are less pessimistic than they were three months earlier.
Asked about the changes to the financial situation of their households over the past 12 months, Bulgarians were more negative compared with the previous poll.
In April 2026, views of the change of the consumer prices over the last 12 months were more unfavourable. However, expectations about inflation expectations over the next 12 months are less intense in comparison with three months earlier.
The poll found that people expect unemployment to stay at the same level or drop slightly over the next 12 months.
Most of those polled continued to believe that the economic situation in Bulgaria is unfavourable for savings.
They were negative about being able over the next 12 months to make major purchases, such as buying a car and buying or building a house.
As The Sofia Globe reported previously, consumer confidence dropped by 7.3 percentage points in January 2025, rose by 3.1 percentage points in April, dropped by 4.7 percentage points in July and dropped again, by four percentage points, in October. The poll results released in February 2026 showed consumer confidence slightly down.
