Missing Three Stars
I've collected all stars from A, B and C. I've unlocked and completed the B and C star areas and got the grey sigils, however I've gone back to the A star area and it's asking for 3 more stars/gold sigils before I can unlock the gate.

In the least spoilers possible, have I missed something? I should note I've not touched the tower yet.

In the end, all stars are required to open all star panels. None left.
Tower area has 2 stars.
That means you're missing one more star in one of A,B or C levels. Check boards near every level entry.

There are much more stars in DLC than needed, unlike main game.

There is a way to get additional 3 stars in main game by playing Sigils of Elohim.

I'm sure I checked all the boards in A, B and C and all the stars show an X over them. However I'll double check. I'm at level 5 in the tower now, and I've found a star In the building behind the tower. I just need to find a way of getting it, and then hunt the last two stars. I've not actually bought or played the DLC yet, I'm still completing the game the authentic way. Enjoying every moment of it!

So yes, there are three stars not located in the numbered puzzle areas. Sounds like you've found two of them, which would leave just one remaining. If I interpret your last comment correctly, then I was able to find the last one myself - all I can say is to try to access every little area you can!

Well if you get really stuck I can tell you this (not exact location)
The 3 stars not in the A, B, C levels are 2 in the tower level (you found 1, the other is in one of the tower levels and can be seen from the outside of its area. The last one is somewhere else (not in the tower area or level)

I've completed all the endings since my post. :)

The last tower one was tricky to find, but I'll add the hint for if any new players get stuck.

On level 3 of the Tower, but only accessable from level 5 of the Tower.

As some already pointed out, not all stars are in the areas marked by a number.
So ask yourself if you have visited ALL areas in building A, B and C... (hint: you haven't).
