Steam input becomes non-functional after opening steam overlay to adjust controls
I wish I could get a more concrete trigger for this bug, but I have yet to be able to do so. so I am filing this report now so I dont forget to and so I can at least get eyes on it. Will update if I find a definitive trigger.
But I frequently get a bug where opening steam overlay to adjust my controls, after closing the overlay none of the physical controls seem to work anymore (or it defaults to lizard mode maybe?) I used to fix this by touching a control that brought up a virtual menu and it would fix the problem, but I found out that also pressing shift twice (maybe only need to once?) on my keyboard "unsticks it"
I sometimes when adjusting the controls will press Shift+tab on my keyboard rather then use the controller buttons and I do wonder if this is the trigger for this? I do this cause I can make edits quicker then using the controlller itself. and it feels like in pressing shift+tab that the steam client is "holding" that shift key for whatever reason. I was experiencing this a lot in motorsport manager and it was easy to see that my shift key was getting "stuck" cause of its remaping controls screen and seeing that when I tried to change my controls the game was only getting my shift key regardless of the input I pressed on the controller (iirc it was when I gave the controller input, it was a lil while since I set that game up) But I have experienced it in some other games too, so its not specific to Motorsport Manager.
This is the current version of steam I am running.

Edit - So I just replicated the issue in Motorsport Manager by starting the game, going into a race and the cointroller was functional.
I pressed Shift+Tab to open the overlay and then I used my actual mouse and opened the steam input window via the controller button. Using my mouse I bound
"/" to my R5 button and then closed the steam inputt window with the mosue by clicking on "Back" button in the bottom list of the window.. Lastly I closed steam overlay but using the mouse and clicking the X in the top right of the overlay. At which point my bound controller input became frozen in the game
Fwiw Alt-Tabbing the game out to step this up after double checking the steps also "fixed" the input
Edit 2 - I was trying to figure out if one of the buttons I clicked with the mouse was causing the trigger, but after "fixing" the issue once I am unable to replicate the issue without shutting and restarting the game. So it is there, but it doesnt seem to always come up following the above initial steps which is what makes it hard to give a retailed report.
Final edit? - The issue seems to come up specificly when hitting that "Return to game" button with your actual mouse and clicking on the "X" ONLY IF you initially open the overlay with Shift+Tab on your keyboardm using the steam button on the controller does not seem to trigger it.
I am not 110% if this is the trigger due to the inconsistancy, but trying a few different things to open the overlay, change the controls, close the input window none of those seemed to cause the issue, but hitting the "X" I think was the trigger
