Change Advanced settings in Safari on Mac

Show full website address

Have the Smart Search field show the full address of the website you’re viewing instead of just the domain name. For example, www.apple.com/safari/ instead of apple.com.

Never use font sizes smaller than

Set a minimum font size for text in webpages (doesn’t affect text in images).

If you’re unsure what to choose, try 12 or 14. This option may change the appearance of some webpages.

Press Tab to highlight each item on a webpage

Move around a webpage to highlight links and buttons without using the mouse.

Use advanced tracking and fingerprinting protection

Use advanced privacy tracking for Private Browsing or all browsing.

Allow websites to check for Apple Pay and Apple Card

When you visit a website that uses Apple Pay, the website can check if you have Apple Pay enabled on that device. If you’re using a Mac to which a card cannot be added, the website can check if you have Apple Pay set up on an iPhone or Apple Watch. Apple websites and apps can also check to see if you have Apple Card. You can stop websites you visit from checking if Apple Pay is enabled or Apple websites from checking if you have Apple Card on your Mac at any time by going to Safari > Settings > Advanced and deselecting “Allow websites to check for Apple Pay and Apple Card.”

This option appears if you have either of the following:

• Mac with Touch ID.

• iPhone 6 or later (including iPhone SE) with iOS 10 or later, or Apple Watch with watchOS 3 or later. You must be signed in to the same Apple Account on your device and your Mac (and your Mac must support Handoff).

If you allow websites to check if Apple Pay is set up, one of two things can happen:

• If you have a card set up in Apple Pay: Websites might default your shopping cart to Apple Pay and you might see the Apple Pay button on product detail webpages (it’s up to the website).

• If you don’t have a card set up in Apple Pay: Websites probably won’t default your shopping cart to Apple Pay and you probably won’t see the Apple Pay button on product detail webpages (because the website can see that you haven’t set up a card).

Let advertisers measure how they’re doing without associating ad activity with you.

Block all cookies

Prevent any websites, third parties, or advertisers from storing cookies and other data on your Mac. This may prevent some websites from working properly.

Save articles for offline reading automatically

Keep the webpages in your Reading List available for times when you’re not connected to the internet.

Style sheet

Use your own CSS instead of webpage style sheets. Click the pop-up menu, then choose Other.

Default encoding

Use an encoding appropriate for the language of the webpages you view most often. This option is useful if webpages appear garbled.

To change the encoding for a specific webpage, view the webpage in Safari, then choose View > Text Encoding.
