Bookmark websites that you want to revisit in Safari on Mac

A bookmark is a link to a website that you save so you can quickly revisit it later.

Open Safari for me

Add a bookmark

  1. Go to the Safari app ๐Ÿ‘ Image
    on your Mac.

  2. Go to the website you want to bookmark.

  3. Click ๐Ÿ‘ the Share button
    in the toolbar, then choose Add Bookmark to.

    You can also choose to add the bookmark to a recently created bookmarks folder. Choose Add to [bookmarks folder].

  4. Choose where to add the bookmark, and rename it if you like.

    • Add this page to: Click the pop-up menu and choose a folder. The default is Favorites.

    • Rename the bookmark: Enter a brief name to help you identify the website.

    • Add a description: Enter more details as an optional reminder about the website.

  5. Click Add.

After you add the bookmark, you can find it in the sidebar.

Find a bookmark

  1. Go to the Safari app ๐Ÿ‘ Image
    on your Mac.

  2. Click Bookmarks in the sidebar.

    If the sidebar isnโ€™t shown, click ๐Ÿ‘ the Sidebar button
    in the toolbar.

    If you donโ€™t see Bookmarks at the top or bottom of the sidebar, click ๐Ÿ‘ the Back button
    at the top of the sidebar.

  3. Enter the bookmark name in the search field at the top of the sidebar.

Use a bookmark

  1. Go to the Safari app ๐Ÿ‘ Image
    on your Mac.

  2. Click Bookmarks in the sidebar.

    If the sidebar isnโ€™t shown, click ๐Ÿ‘ the Sidebar button
    in the toolbar.

    Or, choose Bookmarks > Show Bookmarks.

  3. Click the bookmark in the sidebar.

    You can also scroll through the small images of recently saved bookmarks at the top of the sidebar and click one, or choose from the Bookmarks menu.

Manage bookmarks

  1. Go to the Safari app ๐Ÿ‘ Image
    on your Mac.

  2. Click Bookmarks in the sidebar.

    If the sidebar isnโ€™t shown, click ๐Ÿ‘ the Sidebar button
    in the toolbar.

  3. Click ๐Ÿ‘ the More button
    ,
    then choose Show Folders on Top.

  4. Control-click a bookmark or folder, then choose from the shortcut menu to do one of the following:

    • Rename or edit a bookmark or folder.

      You can also force click the name, or click and hold the name until itโ€™s highlighted, then enter a new one.

    • Edit a bookmarkโ€™s website address (URL).

    • Copy or delete a bookmark or folder.

    • Create a bookmarks folder.

    • Move a bookmark or bookmarks folder to another bookmarks folder.

You can also manage bookmarks by choosing Bookmarks > Edit Bookmarks.
