Use a text cursor to navigate & select text

You can navigate web pages, select text, and click links with your keyboard instead of your mouse. This setting is called caret browsing.

Turn on caret browsing

Important: To use caret browsing, you must connect an external keyboard.

  1. On your Android device, open Chrome πŸ‘ Chrome
    .
  2. Open a New tab.
  3. Select More πŸ‘ Image
    πŸ‘ and then
    Settings πŸ‘ and then
    Accessibility.
  4. Turn Navigate pages with a text cursor when a keyboard is attached on or off.

Tips:

  • To use caret browsing in a web page, press the arrow keys.
    • This moves a blinking text cursor.
  • To jump by words or paragraphs, press and hold Ctrl + arrows.
  • You can also turn caret browsing on and off with the keyboard shortcut "F7."
    • For ChromeOS, press Ctrl + F7.
