Copy apps & data from an iPhone or iPad to a new Android device
You can easily move your data from your iPhone to a new Android device.
Important:
- Connect your iPhone to Wi-Fi before you start. Follow the instructions on your new Android device to either transfer the Wi-Fi connection from the iPhone or connect manually.
- If an organization, like a business or school, manages your iOS device, you may not be able to transfer all data.
- You must turn off iMessage on your iPhone.
- Both devices must be connected to each other for the entire transfer process.
- Some of these steps may vary based on your device.
Before you begin
- Charge both devices.
- Make sure you can unlock the old device with a PIN, pattern, or password.
- Optionally, turn off the auto-lock feature on your iPhone.
- Check storage on both your old and new devices. You won’t be able to transfer all data if there isn’t enough storage on the new device.
- Set aside time. Data transfer usually takes less than 30 minutes, but it can take up to a few hours if you have a lot of data.
Beginning with Android 17, on all Pixel 8 devices and newer, you’ll be able to use an upgraded transfer process that copies more data. Follow the instructions on the screen for the best experience available. If your device is eligible for the upgraded process, you’ll get a QR code immediately after you choose to copy data from an iPhone or iPad.
You can copy different data types based on which method you choose to transfer data. There may also be slight differences based on your device’s manufacturer.
Important: If you skip the initial setup, you can still copy your data later on the Android Switch app or by going to Settings 👁 and then
Accounts and backup. On Pixel 9 devices and newer, you will have the “Upgraded” transfer experience.
