Use labels to track calendar entries

To review how you spend your time, you can assign labels to your calendar entries and track them in Time Insights. Learn more about Time Insights.

Important: The labels you assign to your events are visible to you and anyone with "Make changes and manage sharing" and "Make changes to events" access to your calendar.

What you need to view labels in Time Insights

Tip: If you don't have the Time Insights option, your admin may have turned it off for your organization. Learn more about “Who is my administrator?

Create & assign a label

For a specific event:

  1. On your computer, open Google Calendar.
  2. Open an event.
  3. Click Edit 👁 Edit
    .
  4. Next to the calendar name, select the current color.
  5. Create a new label or add an existing label.
  6. Click Save.

Tips:

  • To create or assign a label, you can right-click an event invitation.
  • You can create up to 200 labels.

From the Time Insights panel:

  1. On your computer, open Google Calendar.
  2. On the left, click More insights 👁 Image
    .
  3. On the right, next to “Time breakdown,” click Edit 👁 Edit
    .
    • Tip: You can also add or edit labels below the Time breakdown chart.
  4. In the “labels” popup, you can:
    • Create a new label: At the bottom left, click Add a new label 👁 Image
      .
    • Assign a label to existing meetings: In the field that says “Add a label,” enter your label name.
    • Delete a label: Next to your preferred label, click Delete 👁 Image
      .
  5. Click Save.
