Mark a conversation or thread as read or unread

In Google Chat, you can mark conversations as unread to return to them later. You can also mark a conversation as read without opening it.

When you mark a conversation as unread, a dot shows up next to it in your conversation list.

2. In the navigation panel or "Home," next to the conversation or thread, click More options 👁 Image

3. Click Mark as read 👁 Image
   or Mark as unread 👁 Image
   .

Tips: Other ways to mark a conversation as read or unread include:

• At the top of a DM or space, click the conversation name 👁 and then
  Mark as read or Mark as unread.
• For individual messages in a conversation, point to the message 👁 and then
  click More actions 👁 Image
  👁 and then
  Mark as unread. This adds an “Unread” line above the message in the conversation.

2. On the left, click Home.
3. At the top right, click Unread.
