Use AI Mode in Chrome
You can ask questions to get AI-powered answers, ask follow-up questions, and get helpful links with AI Mode in Chrome. When you use AI Mode, it divides your questions into subtopics, then searches for each one simultaneously. This way, AI Mode finds more relevant content that matches your query.

What you need
Important: AI Mode in Chrome is not available to everyone or on every device at this time. This feature is gradually coming to people outside the US and to non-English languages, so it might not be available to you right now.
For the best experience with AI Mode in Chrome, in the “My Activity” page, turn on Web & App Activity.
- If you don’t turn on this setting, you can still use AI Mode but you can’t pick up where you left off with previous searches. Learn more about getting AI-powered responses with AI Mode.
Get started with AI Mode in Chrome
You can enter detailed queries, switch to AI Mode for advanced search experiences, and access various AI tools directly from the address bar.
- On your iPhone, open Chrome 👁 Chrome
. - Open a New Tab page.
- To access AI Mode, tap the search box 👁 and then

. This leads you to google.com/aimode.
- Or, below the search box, tap AI Mode 👁 Image
- Enter your question.
- You can also use the 👁 Image
menu to add multiple items, like recent tabs, images, files, or tools to support your question.

- To select from history, select View your AI Mode history.
- When you enter a question, you’ll be directed to the AI Mode results page.
- On your iPhone, open Chrome 👁 Chrome
. - To access AI Mode, tap the address bar 👁 and then

AI Mode. - Enter your question.
- To use your voice, select Microphone 👁 Image
. - On the left of the address box, you can also use the 👁 Image
menu to add multiple items, like recent tabs, images, files, or tools to support your question.- You can select:
- Add current tab: You can select this option if you want to ask about your current active tab.
- Tabs: You can select this option to ask about multiple open tabs.
- Camera: You can use your camera to add a real-time image to your question.
- Gallery: You can choose images from your gallery to add context to your question.
- Files: You can insert PDF files from your device.
- Create image: You can generate an image from the address bar.
- You can select:
- To use your voice, select Microphone 👁 Image
- To select from history, select View your AI Mode history.
Delete AI Mode history saved in your account
- On your iPhone, open Chrome 👁 Chrome
. - Open a New Tab Page.
- Below the search box, tap AI Mode 👁 Image
. - To find your past searches saved in your account, at the top, tap AI Mode history 👁 AI mode history
. - Choose the AI Mode search you want to delete:
- A specific search: Next to the AI Mode history item, tap More 👁 Image

. - All your AI Mode history: Tap More 👁 Image

Delete all 👁 Image

- A specific search: Next to the AI Mode history item, tap More 👁 Image
Tip: To delete the AI mode activity saved in your account:
- Go to Search history.
- Tap Delete 👁 Remove

What happens when you delete your AI Mode history
- If you delete searches from AI Mode history, they may still appear in the “My Activity” page for some time. These items are auto-deleted within 24 hours. You can also delete them manually from the “My Activity” page.
- When your search begins with an AI Overview and you choose to "Dive deeper in AI Mode," you might find 2 entries in your Search history for that interaction. The first entry represents your original query, and the second reflects the transition to AI Mode for follow-up questions.
- When you delete a search from the AI Mode history, it still appears in your Search history. To completely delete a specific search, delete it from your Search history.
