Check if your Chrome browser is managed
If you use Chrome at school or work, it might be managed, or set up and maintained by a school, company, or other group.
If your Chrome browser is managed, your administrator can set up or restrict certain features, install extensions, monitor activity, and control how you use Chrome.
If you use a Chromebook, check if your Chromebook is managed.
Check if your browser is managed with these steps.- Open Chrome ๐ Chrome
. - At the top right, select More ๐ More
. - Check the bottom of the menu. If you see โManaged by your organization,โ your browser is managed. If you donโt, your browser isnโt managed.
Tip: In the address bar, enter: chrome://management and press Enter.
Check extensions
If your browser is managed, you can find the extensions that are managed by your organization.
- Open Chrome ๐ Chrome
. - In the address bar, enter:
chrome://management - Press Enter.
Check policies
If your browser is managed, you can find the policies that are set by your organization.

. - In the address bar, enter:
chrome://policy - Press Enter.
Fix issues with a managed browser on your personal device
If you believe your browser shouldn't be managed, contact your Google Account or device administrator.
If you are using a personal device, follow these steps to identify and potentially remove managed accounts, programs, or extensions.
- On your computer, open Chrome.
- At the top right, select Profile ๐ Profile
. - To determine the type of account, find the signed in email address.
- Personal: Google Account ends with @gmail.com.
- Managed: Google Account associated with work or school ends with a custom domain such as @company.com or @yourschool.edu.
- On your computer, open Chrome.
- In the address bar, enter:
chrome://policy - Press Enter.
- Review the programs, extensions, or other policies.
- On your computer, open Chrome.
- To close your browser, at the top right, select Close ๐ Image
. - Re-open Chrome.
