Uninstall Google Chrome
You can remove Chrome from your computer (Windows, Mac, or Linux), or delete Chrome from your iPhone or iPad.
- On your computer, close all Chrome windows.
- Click Start menu 👁 Image
👁 and then
Settings. - Click Apps 👁 and then
Installed apps. - Next to Google Chrome, click More 👁 More
👁 and then
Uninstall. - Click Uninstall.
- To allow this app to make changes to your device, click Yes.
- On your computer, close all Chrome windows and tabs.
- Click the Start menu 👁 Start menu
👁 and then
Settings. - Click Apps.
- Under "Apps & features," find and click Google Chrome.
- Click Uninstall.
- Confirm by clicking Uninstall.
- To delete your profile information, like bookmarks and history, check "Also delete your browsing data."
- Click Uninstall.
- At the bottom of your computer screen, in your Dock, right-click Chrome.
- Select Quit.
- Open Finder.
- Go to the folder containing the Google Chrome application on your computer.
- Tip: It may be in your Applications folder. If not, go to File 👁 and then
Find, and search for "Google Chrome."

- Drag Google Chrome to the Trash.
- Optional: Delete your profile information, like bookmarks and history:
- At the top of the screen, click Go 👁 and then
Go to Folder. - Enter
~/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome. - Click Go.
- Select all the folders, and drag them to the Trash.
- At the top of the screen, click Go 👁 and then
- Open a terminal window.
- On GNOME, Unity, and Cinnamon environments, press Ctrl + Alt + t.
- On KDE environments, go to Application Menu 👁 and then
System 👁 and then
Konsole.
- Enter the uninstall command:
- Debian-based systems: Enter
sudo dpkg -r google-chrome-stable. - Other systems: Enter
sudo rpm -e google-chrome-stable.
- Debian-based systems: Enter
- When prompted, enter your computer's password.
If you delete profile information when you uninstall Chrome, the data won’t be on your computer anymore. If you are signed in to Chrome and save data in your Google Account, some information might still be on Google's servers. To delete, delete your browsing data.

Uninstall and reinstall Chrome to fix most problems with default search engines, pop-ups, or Chrome updates.
