Protect, hide & edit sheets

Protect a sheet or range

To protect a sheet or range, use Google Sheets on a computer.

Hide sheets from view

You can hide sheets that are old or are placeholders for calculations used by other sheets.

  • Hiding a sheet is not the same as protecting a sheet.
  • All spreadsheet editors can unhide and view these sheets for convenience.
  • Spreadsheet viewers can still access content in hidden sheets. For example, if a viewer makes a copy of the spreadsheet, the sheets remain hidden, but they can unhide the sheets.

To hide or unhide a sheet, use Google Sheets on a computer.

Edit sheets

To copy a sheet within a spreadsheet:

  1. Open a spreadsheet in the Google Sheets app.

To change the order of the sheets in a spreadsheet, drag a sheet tab until it is in the order you want.
