Animate objects, scenes & photos in Vids

You can animate text, shapes, images, videos, and other objects within a video scene.

Animate text, shapes, & media

Animate different object types (including texts, shapes, images, and videos) within a scene of your video.

  1. On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
  2. Click a scene πŸ‘ and then
    an object πŸ‘ and then
    Animation πŸ‘ Image
    .
  3. In the Animation side panel, select an animation.
  4. Select how you want the animation to show:
    • Enter & Exit
      • To select different animations for Enter & Exit, at the bottom of the side panel, turn on Separate enter and exit animations.
    • Loop
  5. Select an animation style, such as fade, slide, or rise.
  6. Customize your animation:
    • For some animations you can:
      • Change the speed of the animation.
        • Under β€œDuration,” adjust the slider.
      • Change the direction of the animation.
    • Set text animation preferences:
      • Whole: Animates all text
      • Paragraph
      • Word
      • Character

Set an animation preset for a scene or video

With an animation preset, you can apply a pre-configured set of visual effects and timings to a scene or video.

  1. On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
  2. Select a scene.
  3. In the toolbar, click Scene πŸ‘ and then
    Animation πŸ‘ Image
    .
  4. On the right panel, select an animation preset
    • If you've selected an object instead of the scene, the Object tab will be selected.
    • To apply the same animation to all objects in your scene, switch to the β€œScene tab”.
  5. Optional: Apply or preview optional animation preset settings.
    • To preview an animation, hover over the preset styles.
    • To apply the animation preset to all the scenes, click Apply to all scenes.
    • To view the timing of the animation preset, at the top left of the timeline, click Show timing πŸ‘ Image
      .
      • If you add an additional object to your scene, the animation preset maintains the timing and animation settings with the new object.
      • To shorten or lengthen the timing of objects, hover over the left or right edge of the object track until the blue handle appears. Then, click and drag to adjust the duration. After you adjust the timing, the object no longer displays an overlay.

Tips:

  • If you deselect an object, you can still return to the β€œScene” animation tab.
