Plan your video with AI in Google Vids

For each video, you can add up to 50 video objects and 50 audio objects. Limits are subject to change. Learn about Google Vids storage, object & version history limits.

Create a draft video

You can plan your video with Gemini in Google Vids using "Help me create." Enter a prompt, then you can type the “@” symbol to add related documents. Once you’ve submitted your request and all related documents, Vids will generate:

• A suggested outline, with suggested scenes populated with generated text
• Media (images, videos, and music) from stock and/or files included in the prompt
• A script
• A voiceover

Video placeholders are also suggested in relevant scenes to help organize where to add your own video recordings.

1. On your computer, open Google Vids.
   • In the start menu, select the aspect ratio of your vid: Landscape 👁 and then
     Storyboard.
2. Enter a prompt or click a suggested prompt.
   • To improve the output quality of your video, you can add related files such as PDFs and Slides saved in Drive: Enter @, then add the file name or select from the list of suggested files
   • To generate new suggested prompts, under the list of text prompts, click Shuffle 👁 Image

   • When you add a Google Slides file:
     • Visuals such as images and GIFs are analyzed for reuse and inclusion in related scenes.
     • Specific slides may be imported, which may include objects such as shapes and GIFs.

     Here are quick tips to help you write prompts to create videos with “Help me create” in Google Vids:

     • When writing prompts:

       Use natural language	Write like you talk Express thoughts in full sentences
       Be specific	Provide as much context as possible. Attach relevant documents. Use the @ symbol and descriptive prompts to specify details like audience, purpose, and goals.
       Make it a conversation	If the results don’t meet your expectations or you believe there’s room for improvement, fine tune your prompts. To yield better results, use follow-up prompts and an iterative process of review and refinement.

3. Click Next.
4. After your outline has been generated, to edit it, update the tiles that represent each scene.
   • To edit the scene prompt, click the title text for a scene.
   • To remove a tile, click Delete 👁 Delete

   • To add a new tile below, click Add 👁 Plus
     .
   • To rewrite your prompt, type a new prompt 👁 and then
     to generate a new outline, click Try again.
5. Once you have a final outline, choose a design for your video:
   1. To preview samples, hover over a design.
   2. Click to select a design.
   3. To confirm, click Create the draft video.
6. After you create your video, you can continue to edit or customize.
