Create voiceovers with AI in Google Vids

Generate a script with AI in Google Vids to use for voiceovers, video clips, and narrated screen recordings. You can also write or record your own script.

Record your voiceover

1. On your computer, open Google Vids.
2. In the start menu, select Record.
   • Or, in an existing video, on the right, you can click Record 👁 Image
     .
3. Optional: In the sidebar, you can enter in the script for your scene.
4. Under "Recording options," you can choose to record the voiceover from:
   • Camera
   • Camera & screen
   • Screen
   • Voiceover
5. In the side panel, at the bottom, click Start recording.
   • If you record a clip with the Camera 👁 Image
     or Screen and camera 👁 Image
     options, you can use your script in teleprompter mode. Learn more about the Vids recording studio.

Generate an AI Voiceover

Important:

• Generated voiceovers are based on AI models. Options for newly generated voiceovers and voices may change as models are updated.
• Voiceovers that are already generated for existing videos will not change.

You can generate an AI voiceover for one scene at a time, or for all scenes at once.

1. On your computer, open Google Vids.
2. On the right, click Voiceover 👁 Image
   .
3. To generate an AI voiceover, at the top:
   • For one scene: Click Current scene.
   • For all scenes: Click All scenes.
4. In the text box, write your script.
5. Optional: To denote emotional direction, pacing cues, and non-verbal sound effects, use bracketed tags.
   • "[Read this like you're excited]: Your script here."
   • "This [pause] is amazing!"
   • "[laugh] That was a great point."
6. Click Insert voiceover.
7. Under "Voiceover," select a voice for your voiceover.
8. Click Select 👁 and then
   Insert voiceover.
9. Optional: You can edit your voiceover from the new track.
   1. At the bottom, select a scene.
   2. In the text box, enter your new script.
   3. Click Insert voiceover 👁 and then
      Update voiceover 👁 and then
      Replace.

Tips:

• The voiceover supports plain text only, without any emojis or symbols.
• The scripts you use to generate a voiceover can’t exceed 2,500 characters.

Sync your script to a voiceover

To identify when your generated voiceovers don't match your script, a "Voiceover outdated" badge shows.

• Current scene: In the text box, the badge shows.
• All scenes: Next to all scenes with outdated voiceovers, the badge shows.

To sync your new script to a voiceover:

1. On your computer, open Google Vids.
2. On the right, click Voiceover 👁 Image
   .
3. At the bottom, select a scene.
4. In the text box, enter your new script.
5. To update the mismatched voiceovers with the new scripts:
   • Current scene: Click Update voiceover 👁 and then
     Replace.
   • All scenes: Click Update all voiceovers 👁 and then
     Replace.

Tip: When you hover over the badge, a tooltip displays a "Click update to sync the script and voiceover" message.
