Freeze, group, hide, or merge rows & columns

You can freeze, group, hide, or merge your spreadsheet’s columns, rows, or cells.

Freeze or unfreeze rows or columns

To pin data in the same place and see it when you scroll, you can freeze rows or columns.

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open a spreadsheet in the Google Sheets app.
  2. Touch and hold a row or column.
  3. In the menu that appears, tap Freeze or Unfreeze.

  3. In the menu that appears, tap Hide Row or Hide column.
  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open a spreadsheet in the Google Sheets app.
  2. Highlight the rows or columns you want to group or ungroup.
  3. Touch and hold the highlighted rows or columns.
  4. Tap More .👁 More
    , and then tap Group or Ungroup.

To expand or collapse grouped rows or columns, tap Plus (+) or Minus (-).

Note: If there’s a group within a group, first, tap the Double arrows ».
