How to transfer Google Fi service to a new device
To use a different phone with Google Fi, start Google Fi activation on the new device. Your service, which includes your phone number, can continue seamlessly on the new phone.
Your previous phone remains on your account as an inactive device.
How to transfer Google Fi service to a new Android phone
To transfer an eSIM:
- On your new phone, download the Google Fi app.
- Open the Google Fi app 👁 Image
. - Sign in with the Google Account you used to sign up for Google Fi.
- If needed, install an update. After your phone updates and restarts, to continue phone setup, return to the app.
- Follow the on-screen steps to activate your new phone.
To transfer a physical SIM card:
- Remove the Google Fi SIM card from your current device or purchase a new one.
- In the SIM tray of your new phone, insert the Google Fi SIM card.
- On your new phone, download the Google Fi app.
- Open the Google Fi app 👁 Image
. - Sign in with the Google Account you used to sign up for Google Fi.
- To activate service on your phone, follow the on-screen steps.
- Click the link of the app.
- Select Update.
- If there isn’t an “Update” button, your app is up to date.

Frequently asked questions
After you download an eSIM, to finish your connectivity setup, return to the Google Fi app. After you complete the in-app setup, it can take between 5–20 minutes for a device to connect to the network. To verify if the connectivity works, try to use data, place a call, or send a text.
