Manage Google Fit's permissions
When you turn on certain permissions, Google Fit can better track your activities and give you better info about your fitness and activity. For example, if you lose a device, you can change your Google Fit settings on that device from another one.
Change permissions for Google Fit
To track activities accurately, Google Fit can use data tracked with the Apple Health app. You can turn these settings on or off at any time.
- On your iPhone, open the Google Fit app π Google Fit
. - At the bottom, tap Profile.
- At the top, tap Settings π Settings
. - Tap Track your activities with Health.
- Turn on Connect Google Fit with Health.
- Open the Health app.
- Tap Google Fit π Google Fit
. - Turn on the types of data you want Google Fit to use.
Delete permissions for your data
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Fit app π Google Fit
. - Tap Profile π and then
Settings π Settings
π and then
Delete Fit data permissions. - To control your data storage, turn off or on:
- Store vitals data, like your:
- Heart rate
- Resting heart rate
- Respiratory rate
- Blood glucose
- Oxygen saturation
- Temperature
- Blood pressure
- Store cycle tracking data
- Store vitals data, like your:
Tips:
- Changing your data permissions affects further tracking of your data. To delete past data, delete your data from Google Fit.
- When you delete your Activity, Sleep, or Guided breathing data, it also deletes related entries from your journal.
If you use Google Fit on a Wear OS watch, you can turn off activity and location tracking on your watch.
Turn off activity tracking
- If your screen is dim, tap it to wake up the watch.
- Open Google Fit π Google Fit
. - Scroll and tap Settings π and then
Fit account. - Tap Sign out.
Turn off location tracking
Important: Fit won't save location data for children under 13 (or the applicable age in your country).
- If your screen is dim, tap it to wake up the watch.
- Swipe down from the top of the screen.
- Tap Settings π and then
Apps & notifications π and then
App permissions π and then
System apps. - Find and tap Google Fit π Google Fit
. - Turn off Location.
- On your phone, open Google Fit π Google Fit
. - At the bottom, tap Profile.
- At the top, tap Settings π Settings
. - Under "Tracking preferences," tap Settings for other devices.
- Select the device.
- If you select an Android device: Under "Track your activity" or "Use your location," tap Disable π and then
Disable. - If you select an iOS device: Under "Connect Google Fit with Health," tap Disconnect π and then
Disconnect.
- If you select an Android device: Under "Track your activity" or "Use your location," tap Disable π and then
