Generate Audio Overviews in Gemini Apps
You can create podcast-style conversations from documents, slides, NotebookLM notebooks, and Deep Research reports with Audio Overviews in Gemini Apps.
What you need
- For now, this feature isn’t available to users under 18 years old.
To use this feature, you must be signed in to Gemini Apps. Learn how to sign in to Gemini Apps.
Create an Audio Overview
- On your phone or tablet, open the Gemini mobile app 👁 Image
or go to gemini.google.com. - Tap Add file 👁 Image
and select the file you want to upload.- Learn more about how to upload files in Gemini Apps.
- In your prompt, ask Gemini to create an audio overview.
- It usually takes about 3-5 minutes to generate the Audio Overview. While you wait, you can leave the chat and start a new chat.
Tip: You can also create audio overviews when you use Canvas. In the top right, tap "Create" > Audio Overview 👁 Image

When the Audio Overview is ready, Gemini will notify you:
- In the web app: Next to the chat thread with your completed report.
- In the mobile app: As a notification on your device. The notification may appear when your device is locked depending on your settings.
Play an Audio Overview
- On your phone or tablet, open the Gemini mobile app 👁 Image
or go to gemini.google.com. - At the top, tap Menu 👁 Image
. - Under “Recent,” select the chat with the Audio Overview you want to listen to.
- On the Audio Overview player, tap Play 👁 Image

Share or download an Audio Overview
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Gemini mobile app 👁 Image

. - Under "Recent," tap the chat with the Audio Overview you want to share or download.
- To download the Audio Overview, on the player, tap Download 👁 Image
. - To share the Audio Overview, below the player, tap Share 👁 Image

. Then paste it where you want to share, like in a messaging app, an email draft, or a forum thread. - To share on an available social platform: Tap the social platform and follow the on-screen instructions.
