Learn how to fix problems with the Google TV virtual remote

If your Google TV virtual remote isn't working, this article can help fix it.

Important: To use your phone as a remote, your phone and TV must be on the same Wi-Fi network.

To check or change the connection on your TV:

  1. From the Google TV home screen, tap Settings πŸ‘ Settings
    πŸ‘ and then
    Network & Internet.
  2. Confirm the β€œWi-Fi” is on and you’re connected to the correct network.
    • If necessary, select the network you want to connect to.
    • If necessary, enter the password.

To check or change the connection on your Android device:

  1. On your Android device, open the Settings app.
  2. To find your network or select a different network, tap Network & internet πŸ‘ and then
    Wi-Fi.
  1. On your Google TV, unplug the power cord.
  2. Wait for 10 seconds.
  3. Plug in the power cord.
  4. Set up the virtual remote again.
  1. From the Google TV home screen, tap Settings πŸ‘ Settings
    .
  2. Tap Remote & Accessories πŸ‘ and then
    Set up remote buttons πŸ‘ and then
    Volume control.
  3. Confirm "Volume control" is set to β€œAuto (CEC).”
