See places you might like in Maps
Important: We’re currently updating settings for Google Search services, which include Search, Maps, Shopping, Flights, Hotels, Translate, and News. These are rolling out gradually over the next few months. If the settings in this article do not match what you see, history and personalized recommendations for Search services are still controlled by Web & App Activity.
When you have Search Services Personalized Recommendations on, Google Maps may recommend places you might like.
How Maps chooses places you might like
To choose which places to show you, Google Maps uses data from Google Account settings. To make sure you get the most relevant recommendations, turn on these additional settings below.
- Search Services History: Shows you information about places you've searched for. For example, Maps might tell you when you’re likely to arrive at a restaurant that you’ve searched for recently.
- Google app location settings: Google Maps uses your Timeline to give you information about destinations you visit often. To turn Timeline on or off, use the Google app.
- Your iPhone or iPad: The iPhone or iPad on which you're using Google Maps.
