Create background images with AI in Google Meet (Workspace Experiments)

Important:
  • The "Generate a background" prompt in Google Meet is rolling out gradually and may not be available to you yet.
  • This article is referring to Google Workspace Experiments, which is a trusted tester program for users to try new AI features by invitation. The Workspace Experiments program is currently available to trusted testers in US English, and may not be available in your country. To check if you have access to Workspace Experiments program features:
    1. On a computer, open meet.google.com.
    2. Select a meeting.
    3. At the bottom right of your self view, click Apply visual effects πŸ‘ Image
      .
    4. Find Generate a background πŸ‘ Image
      .

On Google Meet, you can use the "Generate a background" prompt to create background images using artificial intelligence. For example, you can ask Google Meet to create an illustration of a magical forest.

This feature is now available on desktop and Android devices. Your self-review shows a mirrored or inverted background but other meeting participants can find it in a correct orientation.
