Use passwords & passkeys across your devices

When you sign in to an Android device or Chrome Browser, you can save passwords and passkeys for your Google Account with Google Password Manager. You can use them to sign in to apps and sites on all your devices where youโ€™re signed in with the same account. You can also choose to allow sites and apps to automatically create passkeys if you have a password already saved.

Save passwords & passkeys to your Google Account

You can decide if Google Password Manager offers to save passwords or create passkeys as you use sites and apps.

You can view and manage your saved passwords and passkeys in Google Password Manager on Android, in Chrome, or at passwords.google.com.

Tips:

  • If you have multiple Google Accounts on your device, Android apps prompt you to choose which Google Account to save the password.
  • If you're signed in to Chrome, your password is saved to that Google Account.

Manage offers to save passwords & passkeys

You can save passwords and passkeys for apps and sites using Google Password Manager. You can choose whether you'd like Google Password Manager to offer to save passwords and passkeys in settings.

"Offer to save passwords and passkeys" is on by default, and you can turn it off or back on. If youโ€™re an Enterprise user, your admin may manage this setting for you.

  1. On your Android device, open the Settings app.
  2. Search for Password Manager ๐Ÿ‘ and then
    Select Password Manager.
  3. At the bottom right, tap Settings ๐Ÿ‘ Image
    .
  4. Turn Offer to save passwords on or off.

Turn automatic passkey creation on or off

When you sign in to an app or site with a password saved in Google Password Manager, it may create a passkey for you. When this happens, Google Password Manager shows a notification to let you know that a passkey was created for you.

To turn automatic passkey creation on or off:

  1. On your Android device, open the Settings app.
  2. Search for Password Manager ๐Ÿ‘ and then
    Select Password Manager.
  3. At the bottom right, tap Settings ๐Ÿ‘ Image
    .
  4. Turn Automatically create a passkey to sign in faster on or off.

Manage offers to save passwords for specific apps

You can choose to never save passwords for specific apps installed on your device. When you're prompted to save a password, select Never. You won't see an offer to save that password again.

  1. On your Android device, open the Settings app.
  2. Search for Password Manager ๐Ÿ‘ and then
    Select Password Manager.
  3. At the bottom right, tap Settings ๐Ÿ‘ Image
    .
  4. Under "Declined sites and apps", find the apps that you want to unblock.

Manage auto sign-in

You can automatically sign in to sites and apps using the info youโ€™ve saved. You can also turn auto sign-in off if you want to provide confirmation before you sign in.

  1. On your Android device, open the Settings app.
  2. Search for Password Manager ๐Ÿ‘ and then
    Select Password Manager.
  3. At the bottom right, tap Settings ๐Ÿ‘ Image
    .
  4. Turn Auto sign-in on or off.

Turn off Google Password Manager app on your Pixel phone

The Google Password Manager app on Android is a shortcut that provides a quick way to access your saved passwords and passkeys. You can turn off the shortcut but this won't delete your saved sign in info. This includes passwords, passkeys, and notes. This info is stored in your Google Account or on your device. It wonโ€™t be removed when you disable this app.

  1. On your phone, find the Passwords app ๐Ÿ‘ Image
    .
    • You can swipe up to see all of your apps or search for โ€œPasswords.โ€
  2. Touch and hold Passwords ๐Ÿ‘ Image
    .
  3. Tap App info ๐Ÿ‘ And then
    Disable.

Tip: When you disable the Google Password Manager app, itโ€™ll only remove it from your device's app tray and visible apps. You can still open Google Password Manager through Chrome:

  1. On your device, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, select More ๐Ÿ‘ Image
    ๐Ÿ‘ And then
Passwords and autofill ๐Ÿ‘ And then
    Google Password Manager.

If youโ€™d like to delete your saved sign in info instead, you can learn how to delete all data from Google Password manager.
