Search with an image on Google

Use Google Lens to learn more about an image or the objects around you. For example, you can take a photo of a plant and use it to search for information or other similar images.

Search with an image search results

Your results can include:

  • AI overviews
  • Search results for objects in the image
  • Similar images
  • Websites with the image or a similar image

What you need

Tip: To search with your camera, voice, and more, download the Google app.

Search with an image from search results

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, go to google.com.
  2. Search for an image.
  3. Select an image.
  4. At the bottom left, tap Google Lens 👁 Image
    or touch and hold the image and select Search image with Google Lens.

Search with an image from a website

Important: To search with a website image in the Chrome app, make Google your default search engine.

  1. On your iPhone or iPad go to the Google app 👁 Google app
    or Chrome app 👁 Chrome
    .
  2. Go to the website with the image.
  3. To take other actions on an image, touch and hold it.
    • The actions include:
      • Search image with Google Lens
      • Save to collection
      • Share
  4. For these apps:
  5. At the bottom, scroll to find related search results.
  6. To refine your search, tap Add to your search.
  7. Enter keywords.

Search with an image from your device

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google app 👁 Google app
    , Chrome app 👁 Chrome
    , or the Safari app.
  2. You can either:
    1. In the search bar, tap Google Lens 👁 Image
      .
    2. From your camera roll, search for a photo.
  3. Take or upload a photo:
    • To take a photo: Point to an object with your camera and tap Search 👁 Image
      .
      1. To ask a question about the object with your voice, press and hold the Shutter button👁 Image
        .
      2. This is available only for English queries.
    • To upload an existing image:
      1. Tap Photo picker 👁 Gallery
        .
      2. Select a photo.
  4. Select how you want to search:
    • Use part of an image:
      • To take additional actions on an image, touch and hold it.
        • The actions include:
          • Search image with Google Lens
          • Save to collection
          • Share
          • More
            • Copy
            • Download
            • Save to Google Photos
    • At the bottom, scroll to find your search results.
    • Drag the corners of the box around your selection.
  5. To refine your search, tap Add to your search.
  6. Enter keywords.

Tip: For more specific results, select a smaller area on the image.

Control access to Photos

You can adjust the access to your saved images.

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open Settings.
  2. Tap Apps 👁 and then
    Google 👁 and then
    Photos.
  3. Select:
    • None
    • Limited access
    • Full access
