Teen supervision features in Family Center
You can view their channel activity to see:
- The channels that their teen owns and the names of the channels their teen can upload videos to. Parents can view info for these channels such as profile picture, channel banner, handle, bio, and number of subscribers.
- How many public, private, and unlisted videos their teen has uploaded to their channels.
- How many live streams their teen has hosted on their channels.
- How many comments their teen has posted on other videos.
- How many channels their teen subscribes to.
View your teen’s channel activity
- Sign in to the YouTube app.
- Tap You in the bottom right-hand corner.
- Tap Settings 👁 Image
. - Tap Family Center.
- Select your teen’s account.
- Tap Channels and activity.
Turn email notifications on or off
You’ll get notifications when your teen completes key milestones, like uploading a new video or Short, starting a live stream, or updating privacy settings for their videos.
You can set and edit the daily Shorts feed limit for your teen’s supervised account using the following steps in Family Center:
- In the Family Center, select your teen’s account.
- Choose Time management.
- From the "Time management" tab, set the daily Shorts feed limit.
What happens when the limit is reached
When your teen reaches their daily limit, a message will appear letting them know and will prevent them from scrolling the Shorts feed for the remainder of the day. This limit automatically resets every morning. Starting in March 2026, parents will have the option to set the daily Shorts feed limit to zero.
Set a take a break or bedtime reminder
You can set and edit a take a break or bedtime reminder for your supervised teen account using the following steps in Family Center:
- In the Family Center, select your teen’s account.
- Tap Time management 👁 Dashboard icon
. - From the Time management tab, set the take a break or bedtime reminder time.
Keep in mind:
- For take a break reminders, if your teen closes the app, signs out, switches devices, or pauses a video for more than 30 minutes, the timer will reset.
- When watching offline videos or casting from your phone, the take a break timer does not run.
- When your child receives a reminder, they can choose to dismiss it or tap Remind Me Again to get another bedtime reminder in 15 minutes.
