Set up a supervised teen account
To set up a supervised teen account, parents and teens can link their accounts in Family Center. Supervision can be removed at any point by a parent or a teen.
Note: These features are designed for teens, but can be set up for other family members if needed. It’s up to each family to decide if and how they want to use supervision on YouTube.
Set up supervision
Steps for parents
- Log in to the YouTube app.
- Tap You in the bottom right-hand corner.
- Tap Settings 👁 Image
. - Tap Family Center.
- Tap Invite a teen.
- Tap Create invite.
- Have your teen scan the QR code on their device, or you can share a link with them instead.
Steps for teens
- Log in to the YouTube app.
- Tap You in the bottom right-hand corner.
- Tap Settings 👁 Image

- Tap Invite a parent.
- Tap Create invite.
- Have your parent scan the QR code on their device, or you can share a link with them instead.
Turn off supervision
Steps for parents
- Sign in to the YouTube app.
- Tap You in the bottom right-hand corner.
- Tap Settings 👁 Image
. - Tap Family Center.
- Select the account you want to turn off supervision for.
- Tap Turn off supervision features.
Steps for teens
- Sign in to the YouTube app.
- Tap You in the bottom right-hand corner.
- Tap Settings 👁 Image
. - Tap Family Center.
- Select your parent’s account.
- Tap Turn off supervision features.
