Manage YouTube notifications

YouTube notifications let you know when there are new videos and updates from your favorite channels and other content. We'll send you notifications for channels you're subscribed to and may also send notifications based on your interests. You can customize how many of these notifications you get and which kinds.

Change your notification preferences

1. Sign in to the YouTube app.
2. At the bottom of your screen, tap your profile picture 👁 Image
   .
3. Tap Settings 👁 Image
   .
4. Tap Notifications.
5. Select the types of mobile notifications you want to get.

Manage your Android notification settings

1. Open your Android Settings app 👁 Image

2. Tap Notifications 👁 and then
   App notifications.
3. Select All apps.
4. Find “YouTube.”

Subscribe to a channel to get notifications

When you subscribe to a channel, you'll get personalized notifications with its activity. You can change your notification settings from Personalized 👁 Image
to All notifications 👁 Image
to receive more notifications, or you can choose None 👁 Image
if you don’t want notifications.

1. Go to the channel page or watch page.
2. If you're not subscribed, tap Subscribe. When you subscribe to a channel, you’ll automatically get personalized notifications.
3. Next to Subscribed, tap the Notification bell 👁 Image
   .
4. Choose from All 👁 Image
   , Personalized 👁 Image
   , or None 👁 Image
   .
   • All 👁 Image
     : You’ll get notifications for long-form uploads and live streams. You may also get some personalized notifications for Shorts based on your subscriptions and watch history.
   • Personalized 👁 Image
     : You’ll get notifications for some regular uploads, Shorts, and live streams. The definition of "personalized" differs by user. YouTube uses various signals to decide when to send you notifications. These signals include your watch history, how often you watch certain channels, how popular some videos are, and how often you open notifications.
   • None 👁 Image
     : You won't get any notifications from this channel.

Manage your subscription notifications

1. Go to the Subscriptions tab 👁 Image

2. At the top-right of the page, tap All.
3. Tap the Notification bell 👁 Image
   next to each channel to manage notifications.

Manage notifications for recommended content

You may get personalized recommended video notifications from channels you're not subscribed to but may be interested in. To turn these notifications on or off, follow the instructions below.

1. Tap your profile picture 👁 Image
   .
2. Tap Settings 👁 Image
   .
3. Tap Notifications.
4. Turn Recommended videos on or off.

Check your notifications

Tap the Notification bell 👁 Image
at the top of your screen to find updates from channels you're subscribed to and other content.
