Parental controls & settings for supervised kid accounts on YouTube
Parents who decide their kid (a child under 13 or the relevant age in their country or region) is ready to explore YouTube can set up a supervised account. There are various controls and settings for you to guide your kid’s viewing journey through a supervised account.
Manage parental controls & settings
When you set up a Google Account for your kid, you can set up parental controls for a supervised YouTube account in Family Center or Family Link.
Use your linked parent account's Family Center
Use the Family Link app
To view parental controls and settings for YouTube Kids profiles or supervised YouTube account from Family Link:
- On your device, open the Family Link app 👁 Family Link
. - Select your child.
- Tap Controls 👁 and then
Content restrictions 👁 and then
YouTube. - Change your child's supervised sccount on YouTube settings, under "YouTube Settings."
Change specific parental controls & settings
You can tailor the supervised YouTube account for your child by adjusting specific parental controls and settings. These controls and settings let you:
Parents can choose how content will be selected for a kid’s supervised account on YouTube. Content level settings can be changed in Family Center and Family Link.
Family Center:
- Sign in to YouTube with your linked parent account.
- Click your profile picture 👁 Image
. - Select Settings 👁 Image
. - Scroll down to Family Center and click Manage kids profiles and features for teens.
- Select your child’s profile or account.
- Under YouTube settings, select EDIT next to “Content Settings.”
Family Link:
- On your device, open the Family Link app 👁 Family Link
. - Select your child.
- Tap Controls 👁 and then
Content restrictions 👁 and then
YouTube. - Change your child's content level setting for their supervised account on YouTube, under "YouTube Settings."
You can review your child’s watch history for their supervised account on your child’s device:
- Go to the My Activity page.
- Select YouTube History.
- Select Manage history.
- Scroll to review watch history.
You can clear the watch and search history for your child’s account across all of their linked devices from YouTube:
You can turn off Autoplay for your child by selecting Disable autoplay. Your child can’t turn on Autoplay when this setting is on.
To disable autoplay for your child from YouTube:
You can stop new video views from being used as signals to recommend other videos.
To pause your child’s watch history from YouTube:
You can stop new search terms from being used as signals to recommend other videos.
