UN says shelling wounds three peacekeepers in southern Lebanon
The command is investigating the details of the incident, in particular, from where the Blue Helmets post was hit
BEIRUT, April 3. /TASS/. Three peacekeepers from an observation post of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) were wounded by shelling in the border area, said Kandice Ardiel, head of the UNIFIL press service.
"All three servicemen were taken to the hospital, two of them are in serious condition," she said. According to Ardiel, the command is investigating the details of the incident, in particular, from where the Blue Helmets post was hit.
"UNIFIL reminds all parties of their obligations to ensure the safety of peacekeepers in southern Lebanon," she said. "It is necessary to avoid conducting military operations near the positions of the UN military, which poses a direct threat to them."
