Neither a skilled tactician nor a battle-hardened warrior, Cosmos very rarely sees direct combat action. In fact, his specialty is staying out of action. What Cosmos lacks in force and direct involvement, he more than makes up for in providing highly invaluable reconnaissance from high above the action. Serving as a relay for communication, he passes important messages to those in the thick of things.[1]

Before the war, Cosmos was a member of the Science Division. Defiance #1 After a battle involving unknown hostiles, Cosmos assisted in the expulsion of refuse from the battle at the Burthov launch site. After the launch, he relayed to Grindcore that the boosters had successfully separated from the debris. Defiance #3

A short while later, Cosmos was among those in the Science Division who joined Optimus Prime's Autobots in order to stand against Megatron's newly minted Decepticons. He participated in an early mission to the Simfur Temple, providing cover for the Autobots bringing Sentinel Prime's "torch" invention to the AllSpark. Foundation #3

Cosmos was present on the command bridge of Optimus Prime's ship as it was being readied to launch and intercept the AllSpark and Megatron. Like many of his fellow Autobots, he abandoned the dying world in hopes of locating the AllSpark somewhere in the vacuum. The Reign of Starscream #1 Defiance #4

Over time, the Autobots scattered further and further throughout space, looking for any sign of the AllSpark. Centuries later, following the defeat of Megatron, Cosmos was part of a team of Autobots led by Arcee. While in orbit of Mars, he reported the arrival of Starscream in the planet's atmosphere to Arcee and the rest of the group on the planet's surface. The Reign of Starscream #2

Notes

  • Cosmos was unnamed in his initial Reign of Starscream appearances, and his alternate mode was a mystery. Artist Alex Milne confirmed his identity and altmode in comments on his DeviantArt page.[2][3]
    • Cosmos was eventually named in the exclusive content in the Reign of Starscream trade paperback and in later appearances in Defiance, which also revealed his spacecraft mode.
