Ironically, his aim is terrible.

A loner, the ninja-like Greatshot (ใ‚ฐใƒฌใƒผใƒˆใ‚ทใƒงใƒƒใƒˆ Gurฤ“toshotto) took a while to become an Autobot team player. Of course, even after he did, he still prefers to do things his own way.

Greatshot's six modes, ranging from robot to rhino, make him one of the most lethal warriors the Autobots have.

Fiction

Japanese Generation 1 cartoon continuity

In 2018, the Legends comic introduced a retcon that established Greatshot to be a new identity for the Decepticon Sixshotโ€”something that wasn't made explicit during the original Victory cartoon. See Sixshot's page for more on his pre-Greatshot history.

Legends comic

In 2021, the Decepticon Sixshot worked with Daniel to break Star Saber out of the Planet Micro Satellite Penitentiary by surrendering himself to the inhabitants of Micro, who removed his head and converted it into a Micro-sized robot in order to weaken him. Having foreseen this, however, Sixshot had already converted his body into a transtector that he and Daniel used to escape to the Legends World with Star Saber. There they hid out with Chromedome, who was willing to put his grudge against Sixshot aside as long as the ninja helped him with his manga artist career, and when a resurrected Ultra Magnus came to recapture Star Saber, Sixshot battled and defeated him once more. His victory was short-lived, however, as he was then impaled from behind by Nightbird for breaking the Six Clan's law to remain hidden. While he accepted death as punishment for his evil deeds and said his goodbyes to Daniel, he ended up surviving the explosion of his transtector and instead disappeared into the shadows. Hearing of the Legends World's power to bring back the dead, he vowed to repay Chromedome by resurrecting Abel and Jack and sought out Giga to learn more. LG50 Sixshot

To thank Sixshot for rescuing him, Star Saber gave Sixshot a new transtector, encouraging him to use it to become "Greatshot", to maintain the illusion that he was dead and avoid the Six Clan's wrath. Sixshot took to the idea, but first went to Giga so that they could use the Shinchลkon in the Legends World to resurrect Jack. However, his resurrection required that Sixshot give up his body and thus his soul was transferred to the Greatshot transtector while the Headmaster became a new incarnation of Jack. The two returned to the G1 World in 2022, where they worked in concert with Star Saber's Autobots to put a final end to the Concurrence.

Greatshot eventually received his own head, allowing Jack and Greatshot to become fully independent beings. In 2026, Greatshot received potentially fatal injuries in the Silvart War, but was saved by the timely appearance of his Autobot and human friends, who had been searching for him since his disappearance the year prior. Victory cartoon

Voice actor: Michihiro Ikemizu (Japanese), Simon Broad (English, Omni Productions dub), Vadim Gushchin (Russian)

Greatshot's former friends included the criminal mercenaries Blue Bacchus and Black Shadow as well as the sociopathic Guyhawk. Greatshot trailed the pair of mercenaries to planet Micro, intent on stopping them as his first step in "putting an end to conflict." There he encountered and teamed up with Star Saber, the Autobot leader, who was himself investigating Decepticon attacks. Greatshot informed the Autobots that he would deal with the matter as a point of honor, though Star Saber insisted on helping anyway. Greatshot was able to best the two Crossformer mercenaries in combat, destroying their powerful shells, though he failed to defeat either core opponent. He parted ways with the Autobots on somewhat friendlier terms. Planet Micro - The Mysterious Warrior

One point twenty-one jigawatts?! Greatshot!

Greatshot traveled with Holi to a prison facility of Micro, sneaking in through the sewer system. Though Greatshot hoped to convert Guyhawk to the Autobot cause, his former friend gave his refusal in a spray of blaster rounds that almost wiped out the two Autobots. The pair fought, destabilising the prison's lava power supply. Greatshot was almost sent plunging into the lava, but saved himself with a grappling line. Holi was helping him out when a quake sent them hurtling towards the lava, but they were saved by the timely arrival of Star Saber. Greatshot and Holi became firm friends as a result of the encounter. Rescue! Guyhawk

Some time later, Greatshot visited Earth to see his new friends. After sleeping in a seaside cave, he was surprised by the Thunder Arrow erupting from the ocean. He trailed it, and stumbled on a destroyed city full of dead Autobots. Continuing on, he finally caught up with the Decepticons and was able to assist the Brainmasters, facing Deathsaurus himself in combat. With yet another timely arrival on the part of Star Saber, the Decepticons were seen off. Crisis! Ambush in the Desert After the death of God Ginrai, Star Saber called Greatshot to Shuttle Base and asked him to take command of God Ginrai's Second Army. Greatshot reluctantly agreed. Fight!! Victory Leo

When Deathsaurus was able to reactivate his Planet-Destroying Fortress, Star Saber called Greatshot away from his duties to assist in battling the thing. He arrived in time to help Road Caesar, though they were unable to prevent the fortress from launching meteors at Earth, causing untold devastation. The two Autobots decided to assault the fortress's launch bay, and were only saved from certain destruction by the arrival of Star Saber and Victory Leo, the former of whom ordered them to retreat to Earth. The Wrath of the Resurrected Giant Fortress!

Following the destruction of the fortress and defeat of Deathsaurus, Greatshot returned to his life as a mercenary and disappeared after the Silvart War. Showdown! The Fortress vs the Victory Unification

The road to redemption is not over... not by a long... Greatshot!
  • Greatshot (Six-Changer, 1989)
  • ID number: C-325
  • Accessories: 2 "Great Laser" guns
  • Known designers: Masakatsu Saito (concept artist)
Released in the Victory portion of Takara's Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers toyline, Greatshot is a retool of Sixshot with several completely new parts, including his shoulders, chestplate, and both his robot and animal-mode heads. Like Sixshot, he has six different modes: a robot, a tank, a spaceship, a gun, an off-road vehicle, and a winged rhinoceros (retooled from Sixshot's wolf mode). Each of these modes has their own functionality, including things like a trigger (that is, a little plastic panel that springs back after you pull on it) for his gun mode. His two gunsโ€”retooled to have slightly longer handles than Sixshot'sโ€”fit into different holes in every mode.
As with Sixshot, Greatshot's robot mode is mostly a brick, with no real articulation to speak of. Also like Sixshot, a fan-made seventh "Wingwolf Mode"-like configuration can be achieved with Greatshot, though this hasn't been used in any official capacity.
Though Greatshot's toy bio establishes him as a separate individual, due to the retcon made in the Japanese Generation 1 cartoon continuity, Greatshot's toy can also be repurposed as an upgraded form of Sixshot.

Fly like a rhino, let my spirit carry me
  • ID number: LG-EX
  • Release date: 2018 March 31
  • Accessories: 2 "Great Laser" blasters
Legends Greatshot is an extensive redeco/retool of Titans Return Six Shot, with some new parts including the bigger chest wings and the rhino head. While Legends Sixshot's Headmaster is a new mold decoed like a miniature Sixshot, Greatshot's Headmaster, Jack, is a retool of Titans Return Revolver, albeit in different colors and with a new robot mode backpack for head mode faceplate.
This figure's packaging and instructions continue to label what is clearly an upside-down laser gun mode as a submarine. Being a retool of Titans Return Six Shot, Greatshot is very likely to inherit the mold's notoriously loose joints, as they are simple pinned hinge joints or swivels. Unlike with other versions of the mold, the Headmaster must be removed for transformation, as the horns of the figure's new helmet have to be folded into the space otherwise occupied by the Headmaster, so that it can fit into the figure's chest.
Greatshot was a TakaraTomy Mall exclusive. He was available for pre-order on 11 October at 12:00 am until 2 November at 1 pm, and was shipped on 31 March 2018.
The original version of this mold was also used to make Titans Return Quickswitch.

The ninja storm is growing! Shadowmaru is on the left.
  • Greatshot was designed as an upgraded form of Sixshot. Part of the concepts for Greatshot's retooled parts includes a pair of guns which combine into a spaceship. The proposed rationalization was that a defeated Sixshot would be rebuilt as Greatshot after a chance encounter with this spaceship.[1] This did not make it into concurrent Victory fiction, which has no explicit link between Greatshot and Sixshot. (The supplemental character bio included with Greatshot's toy states that he was a former compatriot of both Sixshot and Sixknight, who in turn are all members of the Six Clan.) Nevertheless, there was much fandom speculation that Greatshot and Sixshot were the same character. They both have the same voice actor, who voices them both with a stereotypical samurai movie dialect. As well as being renamed, he keeps a portion of his name (akin to Broadcast into Twincast, Megazarak into Blackzarak, etc.). The two being the same being would be properly explicit in Greatshot's Legends pack-in comic, where the cartoon version of Greatshot is presented as Sixshot in a new body after being defeated and rebuilt.
  • The Greatshot mold was later retooled to make the heroic "Ninja Detective" Shadowmaru (ใ‚ทใƒฃใƒ‰ใ‚ฆไธธ) for Takara's Brave Police J-Decker toyline. Amusingly, while the other 5 forms are of standard size for the series (assuming 5 meters in robot mode), his size for gun mode was increased to the point that, in Transformers terms, Omega Supreme could use him for an oversized rifle. Shadowmaru also had a prototype "brother", Kagerล (ใ‚ซใ‚ฒใƒญใ‚ฆ), who could only change into three forms. The latter was not produced as a toy. More on Shadowmaru here.
  • In 2015, IDW Publishing's More than Meets the Eye comic series introduced Greatsix, a Decepticon under the command of the IDW incarnation of Deathsaurus, based on an early design of Greatshot and utilizing Shadowmaru's colors.
