Treds is a traveller from another dimension, who has taken the form of a Decepticon and infiltrated their ranks in the hopes of finding the solution to a problem that plagues his home. Treds is the only Guardian in the interdimensional scout party to join the Decepticons to ensure that his allies among the Autobots get the information his faction gathers. He is also one of the Guardiansโ most trusted peace agents.

Treds at some point served under Admiral Man-O-War. He didn't enjoy the experience, having been on the receiving end of many of the Admiral's condescending quips. Sunrise
Faced with the Cataclysm, a threat to the very existence of their universe, a group of cybernetic lifeforms called Guardians and Renegades located the probable source of their troubles: a dimensional stream from the 22nd level, involving robot lifeforms called Transformers. Using a Dimensional Interfacer, the GoBots planned to send representatives from each group to infiltrate the Autobot and Decepticon factions of Transformers, exploring that universe for a possible resolution for the Cataclysm and their plight. Treds was disguised as a Decepticon to keep an eye on the Renegades Bad Boy and Bug Bite, similarly disguised.
Their mission, however, hit a snag before it even began. Their transport stream got caught up in a second dimensional transit, alerting the Transcendent Technomorphs of a different dimension to their passage. The TransTechs redirected the GoBots' travel to their own Cybertron, at the dimensional hub known as Axiom Nexus. After hearing of their troubles, though, the TransTechs decided to hold the GoBots indefinitely in Axiom Nexus. The Technomorphs feared that the Gobotronians' non-transwarp-based transit technology could be used against them, and the risk of letting the Guardians and Renegades off-world was too great. Withered Hope
Treds, along with other displaced GoBots, was "processed" before being released into Axiom Nexus's "Offworlder Zone." Transcendent: Part 1
During processing, Bug Bite disappeared. Knowing he would stir up trouble if left unchecked, Path Finder sent Bad Boy and Treds to track down the missing Renegade. Treds also helped in acquiring accommodations for their stay in Axiom Nexus, where the Gobots befriended the morose Crystal Widow. Early in their search, the two faux Decepticons came across a murder scene, with evidence pointing towards Bug Bite as the murderer. Making brief contact with Commander Cheetor, they followed Bug Bite's trail from the crime scene to The Blue Deployer, and then to the Malignus Revolutionary Army. Treds tried to extract information from the anti-establishment gang through a diplomatic approach. When this failed, Bad Boy picked a fight with one of the Malignus, earning his respect once he beat him.
With the information provided to them by the Malignus, Bad Boy and Treds made their way to Swindle, Swindle and Swindle next. There, they discovered that Bug Bite had refurnished his chassis, and found a way out of Axiom Nexus already. Having acquired a "No Questions Asked" transit pass on the black market, Bug Bite was long gone. Unfortunately, this information cost the pair most of their funds. Complicating things further, the brutal General Demolishor had become convinced that the rest of the GoBots were already in possession of black market passes of their own, and begun hunting them down. Treds was captured and held hostage by Demolishor in the Heap. His fellow GoBots and Crystal Widow came to his rescue, though Treds was unable to help for much in the fight that ensued; his hands had been cuffed, and his main weapon disabled by the General. After a prolonged and intense battle, Demolishor was defeated and taken in by Cheetor for his unlawful behavior. Treds helped save Path Finder with an Energon transfusion, and in the aftermath of the battle, Cheetor provided the group with the rest of the off-world transit passes Bug Bite had pilfered.
After Crystal Widow and another sympathetic officer, Airazor, helped the group get retrofitted with upgrades, the GoBots managed to access the dimensional hub and continue on their mission to the 22nd level. They made contact with Bug Bite, who informed them enough time had passed that they should be expecting more arrivals from the Dimensional Interfacer at any time... Withered Hope Sure enough, the group was joined by Admiral Man-O-War, Rest-Q, and The BuggyMan. As Bug Bite had escaped the group again, Admiral Man-O-War berated Treds for shirking his duty, and allowing a known criminal to run loose. The group then set out to make contact with the local Autobots, with Treds joining the earth-bound troops through the potato state. Sunrise
In order to avoid drawing attention to themselves, the GoBots concealed Treds under a tarp and had Road Ranger haul him down the road atop of a flatbed trailer. Road Ranger griped that the inconvenience could have been avoid had Treds picked a road-legal vehicle for his disguise. Treds defended his choice of alt-mode, stating that his offensive capabilities could be the only thing that kept them alive should they encounter enemy units. Later, Treds was the first to notice a red sports car barreling down towards them. Thanks to The BuggyMan's warning, the group were able to avoid a confrontation with the negative-polarity Cybertronian.
As the GoBots approached the Autobots' base, they were put ill-at-ease by the radio silence they encountered. Deciding to err on the side of caution, they approached the Ironworks stealthily. They were nonetheless ambushed by Stepper and Nebulon. Treds attempted to reason with their attackers, explaining that they werenโt spies. When that failed, Tred's group attempted to fight back against the evil Autobots with their built-in laser weaponry, only to find that Stepper's Golnium coating made him invulnerable to such attacks. Realizing they needed solid ammo to overpower him, Treds let loose... and accidentally blew apart both Nebulon and Stepper's hand. Though Treds was taken aback over blowing up an organic being into bits, Rest-Q reassured his teammate that he hadn't actually killed anyone; Nebulon was just a gun, and Stepper had been using ventriloquism to pass it off as a sentient creature. Just as Treds regained his composure, a stern voice warned the GoBots not to move... High Noon
Treds was working out of a UNECOM base with Leader-1's command team when Cy-Kill arrived waving a white flag. The Renegade overlord proposed a game of basketball, with the loser vowing to leave Earth forever. Leader-1 agreed, and the Guardians began training for the game with the assistance of the Harlem Globetrotters. When the big game began, the Guardians came out to an early lead. Treds took possession and fired the ball out his cannon and into the net from half-court. Although the Guardians won, the Renegades reneged on the agreement and fled. Double Dribble In the final battle between the Guardians and Renegades over a matter transmuter, Treds arrived with Dozer, Royal-T, and Road Ranger with the Power Suits to form Courageous. Together, the Guardian combiner squared off against Monsterous until Cy-Kill ordered a retreat. One Born Every Minute
