JailbreakMe 4.0 is a semi-untethered jailbreak for 32-bit devices running iOS 9.1 - 9.3.4, created by tihmstar, released on 12 December 2017 (2017-12-12). The jailbreak runs entirely in Safari, using the same exploits as Home Depot.
JailbreakMe 4.0 was created by tihmstar as a "fun project" to provide nostalgia to users of the original JailbreakMe. The jailbreak is hosted at jailbreak.me [Archived 2024-10-03 at the Wayback Machine]. Whilst technically semi-untethered, the jailbreak can be made fully untethered with the use of tihmstar's UntetherHomeDepot package.
The domain name, jailbreak.me, is owned by Chris Wade (@cmwdotme), who allowed tihmstar to use it for the jailbreak.[1]
Around November 2024, the jailbreak.me website ceased loading. The server refuses connections to port 80 or 443. The archive of jailbreak.me on Wayback Machine works as an alternative.
