Seven & Me (FR: Sept Nains & Moi note lit. "Seven Dwarfs & Me") is a 2016 French series produced by AB Productions, DQ Entertainment, Method Animation, Nexus Factory, Umedia, and ZDF Studios. It's loosely inspired by Snow White (Fairy Tale).
At first sight, Snow is a normal 10-year-old girl who lives with her parents and often spends time with her friends. But Snow also has a secret: she is the descendant of the fairytale character Snow White, and her guardians are modern versions of the seven dwarfs: Brainio, Ingenio, Gulpo, Mysterio, Beefio, Deco, and Cuddlio. The dwarfs live in Snow's house, and very few people know about their presence in the modern world, aside from Snow and the ones closest to her.
Tropes:
- Absent-Minded Professor: Both Ingenio (a scientist/inventor) and Mysterio (an alchemist obsessed with his weird potions) are rather absent-minded. Their old age doesn't help.
- The Baby of the Bunch: Cuddlio, the youngest of the dwarfs, is always innocent, childlike, and affectionate.
- Betty and Veronica: In season 1, cheerful Genki Girl Snow is the Betty and Alpha Bitch Camilla is the Veronica, since they both have a crush on their classmate Charles. Charles clearly prefers Snow, but then he is Put on a Bus in season 2.
- Big Eater: Gulpo is the dwarf who loves eating. The other dwarfs say that he eats all the time.
- Bollywood Nerd: Season 2 has Ravi, a geeky Indian boy who likes technology.
- The Dandy: Deco is the vain dwarf who likes fashion and prides himself in always being elegant.
- Expository Hairstyle Change: Camilla has brown hair in season 1, and acts as Snow's enemy. After her Heel–Face Turn in season 2, she has blond hair and is now Snow's best friend.
- Genki Girl: Snow, very much so. She loves music, singing, and is always full of energy and enthusiasm.
- Lovable Alpha Bitch: In season 1, Camilla is a prissy and snobby rival to Snow, but it's clear that she is not bad deep down, and she only wants to please her Rich Bitch mother. In season 2, she even befriends Snow.
- Meaningful Name:
- The name of Snow's mother is Blanche. Their family name is White.
- Like in most adaptations, the dwarfs have names describing their characteristics.
- Perpetual Frowner: Beefio, the strongest dwarf, almost never smiles.
- Put on a Bus: Snow's best friend Willy doesn't appear in season 2. He is replaced by Ravi, who becomes friends with both Snow and Camilla.
- Really 700 Years Old: All the dwarves are centuries years old, and in the past they have even met Snow's ancestor, the original Snow White.
- Secret-Keeper: Other than Snow and her parents, her friend Willy is the only one who knows about the existence of the dwarfs. In the second season, the rival-turned-friend Camilla also finds out about the dwarfs and keeps the secret.
- Spanner in the Works: The dwarfs mean well but frequently cause trouble to Snow and her family, due to their regular interferences.
- Sweet Baker: Marco, Snow's father, is a great baker and a nice dad, if a bit bumbling at times. Snow herself likes baking with her father and she is a friendly girl.
- Unseen No More: Snow's ancestor Snow White, the original protagonist of the fairytale, is mentioned a few times in the first season. She eventually appears in one episode of the second season, in a story told by the dwarfs.
