Hi, after installing autofs from the normal repo I was greeted with > In autofs5 --ghost option isn't valid. It seems that the recommended way to add rules is to use the auto.master.d directory instead of auto.master file, maybe the wiki should use this recommendation.

Tried to troubleshoot auto.smb and after changing uid=${UID} to uid=${AUTOFS_UID} I finally got Kerberos CIFS stuff going. I have no time to take this further at the moment but it might be a bug in the distributed file or we could have a note on our page but I will leave this here for now.

I tested the instructions (in a VM and bare metal) at Autofs#Remote SSH and they do not create / expose the remote SSHFS at all. Someone else familiar with autofs should confirm this so the entire sub-section may be reworked or removed. Avi H.D. (talk) 06:05, 17 July 2025 (UTC)
