eselect は Gentoo システムの管理と構成のためのツールです。システムの挙動を変更するものであり、システム管理者によって注意深く使用されるべきです。eselect は構成ユーティリティを書くためのモジュール化されたフレームワークであり、以下の要素から成ります:
モジュールは複数のアクションを提供します。典型的なアクションは、何らかの情報を表示したり (list と show アクションがよく使われます)、システムを何らかのかたちで更新したり (例えば、set と update) します。各モジュールはまた、モジュールの使い方を説明する help と usage アクションも提供します。
現在インストールされているすべてのモジュールを一覧表示するには、eselect を引数なしで実行してください。eselect ユーザガイドも参照してください。
app-admin/eselect パッケージは system 集合の一部なので、デプロイされた Gentoo Linux にはすでに eselect がインストールされているはずです。

eselect パッケージのみに対する USE フラグを変更したら、新しいフラグが適用されるように eselect を再ビルドしてください。eselect は system 集合に含まれているので、world ファイルに追加しないように、--oneshot を使用するべきです:
