Starman Jr.

Starman Jr. is an enemy in EarthBound Beginnings and the second boss of the game. He appears to be a smaller version of a Starman with pink coloring, and is the cause of the odd sound agitating the many animals at the Choucream Zoo. Starman Jr. resides in a capsule at the topmost floor of the Superintendent's Office in the eastern part of the zoo. After being defeated, all of the animals calm down and can no longer be encountered.

Defeating Starman Jr. is significantly easier if Ninten has received the Franklin Badge from Pippi prior to the battle, as it will prevent his PK Beam γ from causing an instant knockout and instead reflect it back (though the reflected attack won't have any effect on him).

• The Starman Jr. actually outranks the Starman in Fight.
• There is an unused sprite in EarthBound that strongly resembles the capsule the Starman Jr. escaped in after its defeat in EarthBound Beginnings'. This sprite could have been a placeholder for the diamond sprite that represents the majority of machines in the game or could have been used for the Starmen of the Cave of the Past as the ones in Stonehenge Base use the actual Starman sprite. This could imply that the Starman Jr. seen in EarthBound Beginnings that fought Ninten in the City Zoo is the same Starmen Jr. that came to kill Buzz Buzz in EarthBound ten years into the future after leaving in his capsule.
