Taxonomy Term Listing for Visual Composer is a WordPress plugin that displays a list of categories, taxonomies, and nested terms from any post type. Build the list visually with WPBakery Page Builder (Visual Composer) or the Gutenberg block editor, and control exactly which terms appear and how they are ordered, all without writing any code.

Whether you want to show all categories on a page, only the child categories of a specific parent, or a custom taxonomy from a custom post type, this addon gives you the controls to do it. It is compatible with WPBakery Page Builder (Visual Composer) version 4.11 or higher.

Installation

  1. Make sure WPBakery Page Builder (Visual Composer) version 4.11 or higher is installed and activated.
  2. Install the plugin through the WordPress Plugins screen, or upload the plugin folder to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
  3. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress.
  4. Edit a page with WPBakery Page Builder and add the ‘Taxonomy Term List’ element from the element grid, or add the block in the Gutenberg editor.
  5. Configure the taxonomy, terms, and display options for the element.

FAQ

Do I need WPBakery Page Builder (Visual Composer) to use this plugin?

Yes. You need to install and activate WPBakery Page Builder (Visual Composer) version 4.11 or higher before using the addon. The plugin also works with the Gutenberg block editor.

Up to how many levels of nested categories can be displayed?

The list supports nesting of categories up to 3 levels deep.

Can I display a custom taxonomy from a custom post type?

Yes. The addon lets you select any registered taxonomy, including custom taxonomies from custom post types, and display its terms.

Can I show only the child categories of a specific category?

Yes. You can select a specific term as the parent and display only its child terms. There is also an option to include the parent category name in the list.

Can I hide categories that have no posts?

Yes. Enable the “Hide Empty Category” option to exclude terms that have no associated posts.

Can I show the number of posts in each category?

Yes. Enable the “Show Count” option to display the post count next to each term.

Is the plugin translation ready?

Yes. The plugin is translation ready and ships with a Gujarati translation.

I LOVE finding small but perfect plugins like this. Keep up the good work!
Super plugin, works perfectly. Can you add an optional hover function? If I move the mouse cursor over an element it will shows in a box the catergory or subcatergory image and the short description.
How, seriously HOW THE HELL, did I not know about this plugin until now? After spending a whole day scouring the internet for wild solutions including custom coding, assigning new shortcodes to VC Bakery and countless other options, I finally find this plugin and think to myself “no, it can not be this simple”. But a quick install and config of the plugin and it does exactly what I wanted to do so many hours ago. Thank you so much for this plugin. It is a life saver and SUPER easy to use. Thank you.
