In addition, limited monthly Rovo Dev credits per developer will be gradually rolled out to customers with a Standard, Premium, or Enterprise Cloud plan of Jira, starting with sites who already use Rovo. Admins will be notified 30 days prior to their rollout and will have an option to opt-out if needed.

Rovo enables teams with AI capabilities such as search, chat, and studio apps. 

Rovo Dev is an AI agent that expands on Rovo capabilities, specifically designed for professional software engineers. It handles code planning, code generation, code reviews, and automates repetitive work at scale. Rovo Dev has separate pricing and packaging to Rovo.

Rovo Dev uses AI as part of its functionality and respects your organization’s AI settings. If your organization is not ready for AI, admins can deactivate it through Atlassian Administration. Rovo Dev uses third-party hosted LLMs from OpenAI and Anthropic. The LLM providers we use do not retain your inputs and outputs, or use them to improve their services.

We currently support Bitbucket Cloud and GitHub.

Rovo Dev CLI is a powerful AI capability that can be accessed through the Atlassian CLI.

Rovo Dev respects all of your existing permissions. In fact, two users may receive different results based on the content they have access to.

The data a user has access to is not limited to the product they’re working on. Due to the connected nature of our products, information can be pulled from various experiences to inform a response (or output). All permissions set in the Atlassian platform will be respected as long as they are set accordingly.

Some Rovo Dev features allow users to connect third-party data sources and enter prompts to send data outside your Atlassian site. If you don’t want users to access this feature, you can turn off Rovo Dev. Learn more about MCP Client security considerations here.

We apply our Privacy Principles and company values to Rovo Dev, just as with everything else we do. We’re passionate about creating meaningful data controls, choices, and notices to foster open collaboration and deeper teamwork.

In building, deploying, and using Rovo Dev, Atlassian is guided by its Responsible Technology Principles, which focus on transparency, trust, accountability, human-centricity, and teamwork. Atlassian does not share customer metadata or in-app data with our third-party-hosted LLM providers for them to use to train or improve their services. Our third-party hosted LLM partners, including OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google, operate under strict zero data retention (ZDR) agreements.

Atlassian may use metadata to fine-tune open-source models that operate strictly within Atlassian's infrastructure, solely to improve the quality of responses and experiences we deliver to customers. This use of contributed data is subject to data contribution settings, and we apply robust safeguards, including de-identifying and aggregating all contributed metadata before use.

All compliance reports and certifications for Rovo Dev are available through the Atlassian Trust Center. This includes SOC 1, SOC 2, and ISO 27001 compliance.

At this time, Rovo Dev is not HIPAA compliant and our Business Associate Agreement (BAA) does not cover the use of these features.

At this time, Rovo Dev does not support data residency.

We are committed to helping our customers stay compliant with GDPR and their local requirements. As we do today for all of our products, we will process and transmit data for Rovo Dev in accordance with our Privacy Policy, Data Processing Addendum, and GDPR commitment.
