Grafana is an open-source platform that allows users to analyze, monitor, and visualize telemetry from various data sources. When combined with CData Connect AI, you gain immediate access to Act CRM data for business dashboards. This article outlines the process of connecting to Act CRM using Connect AI and creating a basic dashboard from Act CRM data within Grafana.
CData Connect AI offers a pure SQL Server, cloud-to-cloud interface for Act CRM, enabling the creation of dashboards directly from live Act CRM data within Grafana, all without the need for data replication to a native database. As you build visualizations, Grafana generates SQL queries to gather data. With its inherent optimized data processing capabilities, CData Connect AI efficiently channels all supported SQL operations, including filters and JOINs, directly to Act CRM. This leverages server-side processing to swiftly deliver the requested Act CRM data.
Connectivity to Act CRM from Grafana is made possible through CData Connect AI. To work with Act CRM data from Grafana, we start by creating and configuring a Act CRM connection.
The and properties, under the Authentication section, must be set to valid Act! user credentials. In addition to the authentication values, see the following:
Connecting to Act! Premium
In addition to the authentication values, the to Act! is also required; for example https://eup1-iis-04.eu.hosted.act.com/.
Additionally, you must specify the you will connect to. This is found by going to the About Act! Premium menu of your account, at the top right of the page, in the ? menu. Use the Database Name in the window that appears.
Connecting to Act! Premium Cloud
To connect to your Act! Premium Cloud account, you also need to specify the property. This property is found in the URL address of the Cloud account; for example https://eup1-iis-04.eu.hosted.act.com/ActCloudName/.
Note that retrieving ActCRM metadata can be expensive. It is advised that you set the property to store the metadata locally.
π Configuring a connection (Salesforce is shown)When connecting to Connect AI through the REST API, the OData API, or the Virtual SQL Server, a Personal Access Token (PAT) is used to authenticate the connection to Connect AI. It is best practice to create a separate PAT for each service to maintain granularity of access.
With the connection configured and a PAT generated, you are ready to connect to Act CRM data from Grafana.
To establish a connection from Grafana to the CData Connect AI Virtual SQL Server API, follow these steps.
Once you create the data source for Act CRM, you can start building dashboards on Act CRM data. Start in the navigation menu and click Dashboards
